The story
The Baron has never won a battle he could have avoided, and he considers that the whole of his record.
He is not a coward and the region knows it; he simply came into the title after a war that emptied four villages and concluded, privately, that the job was to not do that again. So he pays for intelligence, he keeps his neighbours indebted, he marries his relatives strategically and unromantically, and when he does take the field he arrives with everything already decided. The chroniclers find him a dull subject. The barony has not been burned in thirty-one years.
His own soldiers, asked about him, tend to say that he is careful, and mean it as the highest praise available.
A commander sculpt that should look practical rather than heroic — good armour kept plain, one heraldic colour, and no trophies anywhere on the model.
