The story

Tankard Raised Dwarf Miniature — Dwarven Legacy

The toast is not celebratory. It is procedural, and the hold would be shocked to hear otherwise.

Every dwarven agreement of any size is closed the same way, in front of witnesses, with a raised tankard and a specific form of words — and the toast is the binding part. The document is the record; the tankard is the contract. Dwarfs who have signed and not drunk have argued in court, successfully, that nothing was concluded.

It is the most cheerful legal instrument in the world and it is enforced absolutely.
