The story
A horse is the most useful miniature nobody thinks to buy until the session it is needed.
The party buys mounts in session four of almost every campaign and then represents them with nothing for the next two years. Putting an actual horse on the board changes how travel scenes play — suddenly there is something to tie up, something to lose, something that will not go into the cave and has to be left with somebody.
It is also, on the bad night, the thing the party has to decide whether to go back for.
Coat colour is the whole model — pick one and build it properly with warm and cool variation, keep the tack simple and worn, and finish matte so it reads as hair.
