The story

Mire Servants Frogfolk Miniatures — Mire Volktoads

Mire servants are not servants. It is a translation error four hundred years old and nobody has managed to correct it.

The Volktoad word means something closer to those who carry — the ones who move goods, messages and water through a wetland that has no roads and never will. It is a skilled, respected trade. Every outside account has rendered it as servitude, and every Volktoad who has tried to explain the distinction has given up somewhere around the third attempt.

They find the misunderstanding more tiresome than insulting, which is worse.

Wet skin is the whole challenge — build the colour in glazes, keep the highlights sharp and small, and let the mud on their loads be the only matte surface.
